ZON, ZEE EN STRAND

Het leven is mooier aan het strand (en met een 50mm 1.8 lens, jippieeeeee). Afgelopen maandag ging ik samen met Leonie, Rosina en Deborah naar Scheveningen en dat was meteen de perfecte gelegenheid om mijn nieuwe baby uit te proberen. Dankzij mijn eeuwige uitstelgedrag ('geen geld', 'nutteloos', 'eerst meer oefenen met fotografie', 'bla bla bla') duurde het bijna een jaar voordat ik de plastic fantastic in mijn armen kon sluiten, maar nu ben ik het gelukkigste meisje op aarde en val ik iedereen lastig als bijna-professioneel-paparazzo. Nadat we 's ochtends onze boekenpakketten hadden ingeleverd (nooit meer school, HOERA) en een voedselvoorraad hadden ingeslagen waar we een heel weeshuis mee zouden kunnen voeden, gingen we met de trein naar Den Haag. Toen we eenmaal op het strand waren aangekomen waren we zo uitgehongerd dat we als een groep beren aanvielen en binnen no-time was al het eten verdwenen, waardoor we helaas ook nog maar even de ijssalon met een bezoekje moesten vereren. 

De afgelopen week heb ik super veel gefotografeerd met die nieuwe lens en het is nu al dé aankoop van het jaar. Zelfs tijdens de gekke belichting op de bruiloft van mijn nicht heeft de plastic fantastic het gefikst. Laten we hopen dat we samen nog veel plezier gaan beleven. <3

ICH BIN EIN BERLINER #1

Berlijn is druk, chaotisch en vermoeiend, maar ook super tof, geweldig en indrukwekkend. Bij de eerste aankomst in een grote stad voel ik me altijd een beetje overweldigd door alle drukte, warmte en het lawaai. Op het moment dat ik dit stukje schrijf hangen we doodmoe op bed en krijgen we net een preek van onze roommatties over stil zijn. Blijkbaar moeten ze om drie uur weer op om naar het vliegveld te gaan. Drie. uur. Ik wil een privékamer. 

Rond het middaguur kwamen we aan in de stad en nadat we onze tassen hadden gedropt in het hostel zijn we de stad gaan verkennen en wennen aan het feit dat we ons niet langer op het platteland slash in een onbekend provinciestadje bevonden (wow cultuurshock wow). Mijn eerste indruk was misschien wel te omschrijven als 'teleurstelling', want wanneer je het Haubtbahnhof uitstapt lijkt Berlijn een stad als alle steden: veel nieuwbouw, hoogbouw en glas. Maar hé, gelukkig kunnen we verder kijken dan onze neus lang is, want als we iets geleerd hebben deze week dan is het wel dat niets is wat het lijkt. (Met  als toppunt een dure winkelstraat die overgaat in een tof binnenpleintje vol streetart wanneer je een zijsteegje inliep)

We hebben gelachen tot we buikpijn kregen en gebruncht terwijl we met onze voeten in het water van een waterval zaten. Toffe, verlaten gebouwen gezien en tegelijkertijd ook de nieuwe 'glazen' kant van Berlijn. We zijn verdwaald in die Großstadt en hebben uren rondgeslenterd terwijl we onze hersens kraakten op de betekenis van bizarre streetart. Typische toeristen uitgelachen bij Checkpoint Charlie en Duitsland - Frankrijk gekeken in een oude fabriekshal. Dansjes gedaan in een super toffe club met een bizarre naam en in het donker Radlers gedronken aan de Spree terwijl we uitkeken op de lichtjes van de stad.

Berlijn, we hebben van je genoten.

CHRISTMAS IN LILLE

Het is nog geen week geleden dat ik in Londen bivakkeerde en afgelopen dinsdag huppelde ik alweer door Lille. Twee mooie oude sfeervolle steden in één week. School is bijna leuk. <3 Behalve dan dat we de hele dag door de stad gesjouwd hebben 'pour améliorer notre français et notre production orale'. En aangezien alleen het woord améliorer uit proberen te spreken al een hel is, was dat dus wel een beetje een nadeel. Maar we hebben het overleefd, de Fransen beten niet en we hebben zelfs alle opdrachten af gekregen. Schouderklopje voor onszelf.

De school had trouwens geen beter moment uit kunnen kiezen om naar Lille te gaan want de hele stad was versierd voor kerst. Overal kerstbomen, lichtjes, een kleine kerstkermis en er was zelfs een kerstmarkt met onwijs schattige houten hutjes die van top tot teen versierd waren. Zo zo zó tof. Ik voelde me net een klein kind dat haar ogen uitkeek en zou het liefst de hele dag in de draaimolen zijn gaan zitten en rondjes rijden op een té roze hobbelpaard met lintjes in de staart.
Gelukkig verdedigt mijn dorp al jarenlang de titel 'minst geciviliseerd plattelandsdorp van Nederland' dus was het uiteraard een feestje om weer thuis te zijn...

Mocht je de komende weken niets te doen hebben, geen leven hebben, ernstig last hebben van studie-ontwijkend-gedrag en gewoon geen zin hebben om in je boerendorp rond te hobbelen: Lille is altijd een optie. (en maar zo'n 3 uurtjes rijden dus nog meer pluspuntjes)

MATH CAN BE FUN

Vandaag is een feestje want vandaag zijn we vrij. Dus ondernam ik gisteren de wereldreis naar Dodewaard om voor het eerst in mijn leven te bivakkeren bij Manon. En het was heel chill met veel eten, Die hard kijken, eten, Just Dance, eten, foto's maken, eten en ohja, ook nog een beetje wiskunde. Soort van. Want eigenlijk was het de bedoeling dat we de hele dag wiskunde gingen doen om achterstanden in te halen. Maar het was gezellig dus yolo wij carpen gewoon deze diem. Ofzo.

Vandaag hoef ik pas het 3de uur te beginnen, dus dat betekent rustig douchen, ontbijten, bloggen en zelfs dan nog op tijd op school komen (bijna een wonder). Ik heb me voorgenomen om dit jaar mijn leven te beteren, zo van: laatste-jaar-middelbare-school-redden-wat-er-te-redden-valt. En ik ben pas twee keer te laat gekomen (een absoluut record, de goden zijn me vast goedgezind).

Nu nog even de rest van de dag op school volhouden en om half 4 heb ik weekend. Oléé olé olé oléé.

VLOG | JUNE

I have to admit, it's not only June but also a little bit of July. From the onesieparty actually. It was just too awesome to not post it. We ate and laugh and ate and laugh and ate until we were almost feeling sick but it was soo cosy and let's face it, no one can resist chocolat fondue, pizza and roasted marshmellows while you are wearing your onesie and sleeping in the backyard. Plus we had something to celebrate: we're done with school for this year, FREEDOM!  


A great big thank you to my lovely friends for being the main actors in this film. Most likely, they're getting crazy from me always making pictures and movies but really guys, you have no idea how fun it is to scroll through your filmrol and find some weird pictures from an awesome occasion. 

In about four days, I'll be leaving for Paris. Counting down the days!

LEIDEN

I'm writing this post while lying on the couch. Sooo really tired because of work, but more important, LEIDEN. It was awesome! Manon and i were staying at my cousins student flat. We got a day off to visit the university  (instead of going to school) so we decided to use the opportunity to discover the student life (or actually, the festivities).

We used our iPhone navigation to find our way through the city by night, but the only result was us walking around like flibbertijibbets (yeah that's right, i've been watching The Sound of Music lately). Well, it wasn't a pity actually. I love Leiden at night! The canals, bridges, old little houses and the fact that the centre is completely taken over by students make Leiden one of the cosiest cities in the Netherlands. Like last night, when two guys were walking around dressed like santa Claus and no one gave a damn, coool haha!

It was so weird but nice to walk around like a student, while my mother was a student there almost 30 years ago. Walking through the same streets, going to the same university. Following my mothers footsteps for one day.

Can't wait to go to college for real. Only one year of high school to go until life will start for real. Having my own 'house', making my own rules, going to college, meeting awesome new people and of course the student scene, which we discovered a little last days. 
Hip hip hooray to my cousin for letting us stay and Leiden, we'll be back soon!

At the gym

Hello there! Time for a sporty post today. Yeah that's right, i went to the gym! Manon, Leonie and i got a ticket for a (one time) free sporting at La Vita a few weeks ago, and we finally used it this afternoon.

When we arrived, we had actually no idea what to expect, but they were very kind and helped us making a good exercice to practise. We started our work-out in high spirits, let's do this!

My new sportswearm jeeej! I bought them at the beginning of this year, trying to find motivation to go running or to the gym. And today, it was the first time i wore them, the labels were still on it haha. You're bad Saar, very bad, because you're too lazy to keep your good intentions... But i'm gonna better one's life and go to the gym/running, i promise!

And we have to admit, after a 1,5 hour work-out you are feeling a lot better, as fit as a fiddle! Plus we are really motivated for another time, so who knows...

As you may know, i'm addicted to smoothies! There's nothing better than a fresh smoothie after a physical strain. I tried something new, the 'green smoothie'. Mine isn't really green and the picture makes it look even less green, but it actually was a light green one. Made of cucumber, banana, yoghurt and a little mint, yummie! ♥

Breakfast

Yeah, i know it's a little too late to share my breakfast pictures with you. I mean, it's almost time for diner, but this wasn't a normal breakfast. Cause today, it's Manon's birthday! (say happy birthday to her HERE). She turned 17, happy birthday to my dreamteam soulmate! ♥
We ate our breakfast at the HEMA restaurant, where you can have a nice breakfast for €1 (or a little more if you want some extras, like pancakes or orange jus). It's definitely recommended if you want to have a nice breakfast with friends before you go to school or whatever you're going to do.☺

I made my last exam this morning, F R E E D O M. Aaaah it feels so good! We had fieldhockey practice after school and it was raining so damn hard. We were totally soaked in like 5 minutes but we kept playing in the rain for 1,5 hours. Ha, we're such diehards.

Now i have finally time to watch Gossip Girl! I'm going to take a hot shower and cuddle up on the couch with my great love: series, yeaaah haha!

These days

Blog to Sara, where've you been? Well, i've been studying for my exams, but here's a little impression of my week so far!
Not only hard work but also some more funny things. Like eating. Or Ed Westwick and Gossip Girl. ♥ Or hanging out with Manon and Leonie. I've chosen the most normal pictures to show you, so you can probably imagine how weird the others are haha. We are undoubtedly the most charming people in the world! But the tompouces and strawberries where delicious though.

And studying with Manon makes it a lot more fun cause we've some weird sense of humor. We only have to look at each other and we can double up with laughter for the most stupid things. Aaah i love that feeling, there's nothing better than laughing until your stomach hurts! ♥ We also had a familydiner at a restaurant but i was soo tired of studying and stuff that i used my little brother as a pillow, poor boy. For one time, i love the terrible quality of my blackberry's camera so you can't see the bags under my eyes. The person who invented make-up is my hero!

Seven down, only one to go! Let's study for my English test and since it's not really my best subject, i think Ed Westwick have to wait for me a little longer... Ciao bella's!

Busy week

Hey hey! How's your day going? I'm terribly busy with school cause i'm in the middle of my exam week which means my best friends right now are books, books and more books. And not a nice book to read. No, books filled with awful sums and conjugations, yay... This morning, Manon and i where studying together for our history test and we were actually pretty serious, which is almost impossible for us. And the test went well, so yeaaah, we can be proud at ourselves!
I'm going back to being killed by math, have a nice day guys! Kiss x

Today was the school trip to Zutphen and just as most school trips, the educational program was definitely boring but the rest of the day was nice! So we spent some time sightseeing a church, the Librije (an old library) and had a chamber concert but, more important: we spent the day with food, walking around in the city, shopping, laughing at sarcastic/silly jokes and, above all, the trip by bus (which is always fun). I have to say i'm really tired now, and since i'm going to Antwerp with my mom tomorrow, i think i'm gonna watch a movie (any suggestions?) and have an early night. Goodnight y'all! x
